The new Hycam IIA family of 16mm high-speed rotating prism film cameras incorporates design changes that significantly improve camera performance. A key electronic design change incorporated new speed control and shutter-pulse sensors in the camera’s optical head. The camera’s improved servo brake design combined with electronic upgrades, significantly enhance top-end performance at speeds above 8,000 fps (frames-per-second). In addition, there is much less end-of-film shatter at the end-of-the-run.

New electronic technology provides a level of reliability at speeds above 8,000 fps that was not possible with earlier designs. For example, speeds are now truly regulated at ±1% at top speeds with MORE TIME at selected speeds. In addition, end-of-film shatter, common with all high-speed rotating prism cameras, is now virtually eliminated. A complete mechanical refurbishment is included in the process. The latest mechanical components along with new replacement parts such as; bearings, rollers, guides, brake bands, LED timing lights etc, are included. |
Users can now switch-select film capacity of 400' or 450'. This assures a maximum amount of film oat the selected top speeds by optimizing drive limiter circuits while minimizing end-of-film shatter. |

| Description
A new generation IR speed sensor is installed in the camera's optical head. This sensor produces a clean and undistorted 0 -15-volt reference pulse at all camera speeds. It's used as a feed back signal to the speed control electronics to assure that the cameras is running at the selected speed. Early generation Hycam II's used mid 1970's era sensors that performed correctly to about 6,000 frames-per-second. At higher camera speeds, the signal produced was distorted and unreliable. This poor signal caused the speed control electronics to respond erratically and frequently resulted in runaway or non-servo controlled top speeds. Most users accepted the mass of end-of-film chips without knowing the camera was in a run-away mode. the Hycam IIA upgrade has corrected this long-standing design deficiency. In addition , each camera receives a complete mechanical overhaul, The latest production design improvements are included with new replacement parts as necessary. The motor is disassembled, commutator cleaned with brushes and bearings replaced when needed. This includes re-packing the motor's viscous clutch. The motor is then tested for correct performance. This upgrade makes your older Hycams run like new cameras.
